The NonProfit HelpDesk operates under the aegis of the Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island (JCCGCI).
JCCGCI is a community-based organization that provides services well beyond the boundaries of Coney Island. It provides a wide range of social services to low-income and elderly individuals and families. While it initially focused on southern Brooklyn, it now provides services not only throughout the borough, but throughout the City.
JCCGCI was founded in 1973 as a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt organization, dedicated to improving the quality of life for the frail elderly, the vocationally disadvantaged, underprivileged immigrants and educationally at-risk youth. Agency leadership later saw the opportunity to have a broader impact by strengthening the abilities of other community-based non-profits, and so added capacity-building technical assistance for those organizations.
